I don’t think Rask will play anywhere else. He has stated that before. |

So many questions...
The question remains can they get Ullmark to waive his NMC? It would be nice to get RNH from Edm in Ullmark/Debrusk swap. I can’t see Edmonton wanting to part with a center but they are desperate in goal. Maybe a Swayman/Debrusk package for RNH....
what will probably happen is Swayman will spend this season in the AHL and Sweeney will have to figure things out this off-season or as the season progresses. |

How long before Swayman asks for a trade? They could utilize taxi squad to keep 3 tenders as Anthony said. But lets be honest, this is Sweeney we are talking about.
I have a feeling you're right, demotion and/or trade is going to be the route he takes. Makes me sick thinking about it |

Just a delay tactic to give Sweeney more time to make the situation worse. |

Not a fan of many of Sweeney's moves over the years but I honestly don't know how he could have screwed up the goalie situation any worse... |

Don't know how he could have screwed up the goalie situation any worse? How about giving away Vladar for a 3rd
Yeah, yeah I know he would have had to clear waivers blah blah blah...I would have rather they ran Sway and Vladar and signed a veteran #3 for providence in case of injury. I mean, really...we all knew Rask would be back before March. The $$$ used on Ullmark would have been more nicely used to upgrade the blueline or #2 center...although this is Sweeney, we probably would have signed Galchenyuk to a 4 year $8 mill per |

100%. It’s a no brainer what you listed above. Every fan that remotely follows the team with half a brain could have played that scenario out in their head but our incompetent GM. The money squandered could have been saved for an impact player instead of a time share goalie and scrap heap of forwards and dmen. |

I know it's hindsight but trading Vladar mid season would've garnered a much higher return and left cap space for other needs. You would now have a tandem of Rask and Swayman.

And if Rask doesn't heal properly? I understand that Ullmark hasn't worked to this point but it is also very risky to go into a season with two very young goalies. Vladar has been good for the flames but he is coming back down to earth quickly since the Flames aren't over achieving anymore. You aren't really ever going to get that much for an backup caliber goalie.
The NMC for Ullmark is beyond stupid.
It is not ideal to have to send Swayman down but now you have three NHL caliber goalies. Tuuks gets his last shot. If someone gets hurt or gets Covid, you have depth.

The best they could have done was probably Phillip Danault? The free agents were kind of lackluster this summer.

Then they're beyond (frank)ed. Even you would have to admit it It was a bonehead call to sign Ullmark. I don't have anything against the player. However, you had 2, viable, cost effective, options with holes in every other position and most importantly no real shot at the cup this year. Makes no sense now nor did it back in the summer. |

Agreed.
Ulmark has no playoff experience yet they signed him for 4 x $5M?
With a NMC? How the frank did he have leverage for THAT?
Would rather the Bruins went with Vlader and Swayman if they had any hope Rask would play this year.

What happens if they send Ullmark down? Obviously would have to clear waivers...what if someone picks him up? Does his NMC prevent him being sent down? I mean, normally you would want something in return but just getting out of the contract would be enough. I know can't/ not going to happen...but what would be the downside if it did? |
